dress care & return instructions
rental period
A dress can be rented for one month. The month begins once you have received the dress. You are able to extend your dress rental by another two weeks if needed. Please reach out to us directly at hello@passdownthegown.org if you need an extension.
dress care
We want our dresses to be able to be reworn for years to come, so please treat the dress(es) you rent as if they are your own.
You can do this by:
Avoiding water and oils to prevent staining
Being mindful of makeup when you take the dress on and off
Minding the hem of your dress by picking up the skirt whenever possible.
dress alterations
We do not mind if you hem, add cups, shorten straps or make any other alterations to your dress rental. Please just email hello@passdownthegown.org with any changes so we can update the dress description.
cleaning & damages
Dresses do not need to be cleaned before returning. If there are significant stains or wear (think oil stain or rips in dress) that we can't remove, we will withhold 50% of your deposit.
*Please note, it's our goal to return as many deposits as possible. In our eight years of existence, we've only withheld five deposits for damages.
returning your dress
If you selected shipping, the dress(es) need to be on their way back to us by the one-month mark.
If you selected pickup, please drop them off at Jenny in The City by the one-month mark!
Please reuse the poly mailer and dress bag that your dress came in. Inside your dress order is a return label. Tape that over the original shipping label, drop off the mailer at UPS OR USPS (depending on the label), and you're all set.
*Failure to return dresses on time will result in us withholding deposits. We do allow exceptions, so please reach out if you need an extension!
